An Added Benefit to Running

banana_splitThroughout the month of March, I continued to pile on the miles, running anywhere from 4-6 miles at a time. My pace has been pretty steady between 11 and 12 minutes per mile. Thankfully, the IT band injury is starting to heal!

So, you wanna know what’s really cool?  Watching the pounds literally melt off my body! When I started this crazy journey, I weighed 145lbs. By mid-March, I was 136. By end of March, I was 131! Haven’t seen those numbers in about 10 years. Thought they were gone forever.

The even cooler thing is that I’ve been able to loosen up my diet and have a few of those treats I’d sadly given up. Wow….ice cream again?  Even a milkshake here and there?  Sneak in a candy bar and not regret it?  Cool!

Now, on the flipside, I’m eating healthier than ever too. Something about working hard makes you feel better about yourself and more conscious about what you put in your body. Part of that is the desire to also to everything I can to increase the rate of success for my running efforts. I figure, eating right will help me recover faster and build muscle faster too.

    Kind of a win-win!
